The Dorfman family business traded for almost 70 years in south London (nearly all of it on Clapham High Street) until the death of its last-surviving member, Maurice, in 2020.
The business' life was inevitably punctuated by 'ups and downs' along the way (as revealed in the graph below which shows annual £ sales since 1954), weathering four UK recessions (1973-76; 1980-81; 1990-92; 2008-09), bearing witness to the profound changes in British life and on our high streets over the course of seven decades.
